Apply for LIMSC OC 2019

LIMSC is looking for the new Organising Committee (OC) to organise LIMSC 2019!

Key facts:

  • You will be LIMSC OC member from November 2017 to November 2019. Especially busy time period will be September 2018 to March 2019.
  • The next LIMSC conference itself will take place in Spring 2019 in the LUMC, Leiden, Netherlands.
  • Main skills you need:
    • Very good English skills (written and spoken); very good/native Dutch skills are favourable
    • Internationally open-minded, sociable, ambitious personality
    • Ready for your most challenging, but most valuable life experience!
  • Benefits of being LIMSC OC:
    • Travel to partner conferences all across Europe.
    • Acquire long-term project planning and other valuable CV skills.
    • Meet people from at least over 50 nationalities and find a great new group of friends within your OC.

Positions you can apply for:

1)      President

Keep the overview over the activities of your whole OC and support them as much as you can. Making sure you act as a team. Further, you are the direct contact person for the Dean of the LUMC, the M.F.L.S. and other people of importance in relation to LIMSC.

2)     Secretary

First contact person for all students interested and lastly participating in LIMSC. This includes answering emails, phone calls, helping with Visa requests and travel grants and arranging/managing the abstract and registration module. Very good English skills (written and spoken) are of essence.

3)     Treasurer

Responsible for all financial affairs before, during and after LIMSC: forming the whole budget, overlooking all monetary transactions other OC members make, handling payments for LIMSC tickets and travel grants.

4)     Design Officer

In collaboration with the Public Relations Officers, you majorly design all promotional material, the website and the decoration during LIMSC itself. Another major task is the creation of the Book of Abstracts for LIMSC 2019.

5)     Program Officers (2 people)

One Program Officer focuses on planning the program for the scientific days during LIMSC including events such as workshops, student presentations, guest speakers etc. Further, together with the other Program Officer, you will recruit and lead the head crew and crew.
The other Program Officer focusses on composing the social program during LIMSC itself including events such as the Black Tie Dinner and the Post-Conference Tour. Another major task is organising all logistics around LIMSC including the logistics plan to coordinate the whole team during LIMSC. Further, together with the other Program Officer, you will recruit and lead the head crew and crew.

6)     Public Relations Officer (2 people)

One Public Relations Officers focusses more on the promotion of LIMSC 2019 within the LUMC and the Netherlands by contacting students, universities and other associations through various channels including social media and the website. Together with the Design Officer you have to be creative for promotional material and the decoration during LIMSC. Another major task is organising your ambassadors from all over the world. Together with the other Public Relations Officer you also organise the Career & Internship Fair during LIMSC 2019.

The other Public Relations Officer focusses on the promotion of LIMSC 2019 everywhere outside of the Netherlands through various channels including social media and the website. Together with the Design Officer you have to be creative for promotional material and the decoration during LIMSC. You are also the main contact person for the partner conferences of LIMSC. Together with the other Public Relations Officer you also organise the Career & Internship Fair during LIMSC 2019.

1)      Your CV including a picture and a telephone number

2)      Your motivation letter (max. 2 pages; either in Dutch or English)

  1. Name your top 3 rankings for the positions you would like to apply for.
  2. It is essential that you explain, why you would be suitable for these positions based on your previous life experiences (academic or extracurricular).
    But please be reminded to make it as personal to you as possible to stand out of the crowd!
  3. Optional: if you attended previous LIMSC editions, name the new ideas you have for LIMSC 2019.

Interviews
Will take place in the time frame from the 11th until 27th October 2017 at the LUMC. They will last around max. 90 minutes.
Please let the LIMSC OC 2017 know in your motivation letter if you are not available during this time period (e.g. abroad for minors courses)!

In the evening of the 28th October 2017, you will be notified by telephone, whether you were selected for one of the positions. Please try to be reachable at that time.

 

First activities as LIMSC OC 2019

In the evening of the 29th October 2017, a dinner with the LIMSC OC 2017 and the new LIMSC OC 2019 will take place. Make sure you are available to attend this dinner to enjoy a great first night with your new committee colleagues and your predecessors! The location for this dinner will be announced to you during the phone call the evening before.

In the week of the 30th October to 5th November 2017 you will plan a personal time slot with your predecessor to begin discussing your tasks for your new function.

In the evening of the 6th November 2017, you will have your first official meeting as the new LIMSC OC 2019.
